WHAT IS LIPOSUCTION?
Liposuction is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that utilizes a cannula (tube) to remove fat from a number of areas of the body. Often used in conjunction with other procedures like facelifts, tummy tucks and breast lifts, liposuction is a popular method of body contouring. The most common spots targeted are the thighs, buttocks, hips and belly. Liposuction requires sedation anesthesia and sometimes general anesthesia.
Best candidates are healthy, non-smokers within 30 pounds of their target weight and have fat deposits resistant to diet and exercise.
FACELIFT TREATMENT
Liposuction removes fat from areas of the body that don't respond to diet and exercise. These include the:
- Abdomen.
- Upper arms.
- Buttocks.
- Calves and ankles.
- Chest and back.
- Hips and thighs.
- Chin and neck.
When you gain weight, fat cells get bigger. Liposuction lowers the number of fat cells in a specific area. The amount of fat removed depends on what the area looks like and the volume of fat. The resulting shape changes are usually permanent as long as your weight remains the same.*
