Specialized Care for Common Skin Concerns

Hyperpigmentation

Dark spots and uneven skin tone can develop after acne, irritation, injury, or inflammation. Treatment focuses on addressing the underlying cause while safely improving discoloration and restoring a more even complexion.

Melasma

Melasma appears as patches of darker pigmentation, most commonly on the cheeks, forehead, and upper lip. Because it can be triggered by hormones, sun exposure, and genetics, treatment often requires a long-term management approach.

Hair Loss & Scalp Disorders

Hair thinning, shedding, scalp irritation, and traction-related hair loss can affect both confidence and long-term hair health. Identifying the cause early is often key to achieving the best possible outcome.

Acne & Acne Scarring

Acne often leaves behind lingering dark marks or scars long after breakouts have healed. Early treatment can help control active acne while minimizing long-term skin changes.

Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory condition that may appear purple, gray, or dark brown rather than red on deeper skin tones. Proper diagnosis and treatment can help reduce symptoms and improve quality of life.

Eczema

Eczema can appear differently across skin tones and may cause itching, irritation, discoloration, or thickened skin. Treatment focuses on controlling inflammation, reducing flare-ups, and protecting the skin barrier.

Why Specialized
Training Matters

Accurate diagnosis is the foundation of effective dermatology care.

Conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, fungal infections, pigmentation disorders, and hair loss can appear differently across skin tones. Specialized training helps ensure these conditions are recognized early and treated appropriately.

Dr. Wells combines specialized training with published research focused on skin of color dermatology, helping patients receive thoughtful, individualized care.
